Description automatically generated with low confidenceOctober is National Physical Therapy Month and PRO PT’s therapy team wants to highlight the many benefits of regular physical activity and the many ways physical therapy can help you live a more active, healthier, and happier life.

Even before the pandemic, most of us weren’t moving enough - more than 80% of adults and adolescents do not get enough exercise. With summer nearing an end, helping people get the recommended amount of daily physical activity is more critical than ever as we tend to be more sedentary as colder weather sets in.

The more you move, the better your health.  Physical therapists and physical therapist assistants are key to help people get moving, achieve their physical activity goals, and improve their quality of life. Physical therapists are health care providers who can help you avoid surgery and prescription drugs, maximize your mobility, manage pain and chronic conditions, and improve your physical function and fitness.

Physical therapy can help you prevent or improve many chronic conditions, including heart disease, diabetes, COPD, and obesity.  Physical therapists can successfully decrease pain, help you avoid surgery, and minimize reliance on prescription medications for those with chronic pain, back or neck issues, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, or fibromyalgia. Physical therapy can help you recover from and prevent injuries like ligament tears, muscle strains, shin splints, and concussions. PTs can also help prevent falls and loss of independence associated with aging, weakness, unsteadiness, and deconditioning. Perhaps most importantly, your PT is the movement expert to improve your physical fitness and help you overcome any barriers you encounter. When you choose more movement, you are choosing better health.  By choosing PT, you are choosing a more active, healthier, happier life. You can do it; we can help.
